MP CADMAN CELEBRATES GROUNDBREAKING OF NEW RCMP 'E' DIVISION HEADQUARTERS
05/07/2010
Ottawa, Ontario – Dona Cadman, Member of Parliament for Surrey North, is pleased to celebrate the start of construction of the new RCMP E Division Headquarters facility at 14200 Green Timbers Way in Surrey, B.C. commonly referred to as the Green Timbers site.
“The RCMP, its employees and municipal police agencies are currently spread around greater Vancouver” said MP Cadman. “This new facility will provide E Division with a central and integrated headquarters that will be built around their specific needs”
The project is a public-private partnership and represents the largest federal accommodation project by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) in the Pacific Region to date. The new headquarters is anticipated to consolidate 25 separate leased and crown-owned sites, and will provide office and accommodation for over 2,700 E Division Headquarters personnel. This will improve working relationships, timely information sharing, operations and the use of resources.
“The Green Timbers location in Surrey will also help keep our communities safe by providing the RCMP with quick access to our neighbourhoods, major roadways and highways to improve response times” remarked MP Cadman.
